About the Role

As a Senior Research Associate or Research Associate, Cell Biology you will support animal cell/tissue cultivation, cell adaptation, cell lineage characterization, cell line development and upstream bioprocess (USP) development. As a member of the Cell Biology group, you will be supervised by a Scientist and from time-to-time collaborate with the members of the Tissue Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering and Food Science groups. The successful candidate will utilize her/his knowledge of a wide variety of biotechniques to support and help achieve Finless Foods mission. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience.


  • Grow and maintain animal primary cell cultures with aseptic technique
  • Perform general molecular and cell biology techniques and other laboratory duties as requested
  • Maintains detailed experimental records using the electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) system
  • Generate reports and documents as requested
  • Present effectively and communicate work related results to supervisor, project teams and all functional groups

About You: Education & Experience

  • BS with 1+ years (Research Associate) or MS (Senior Research Associate) with 1+ years of hands-on experience in biology, cell biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, life sciences or closely related fields

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in cultivating animal primary cells or animal cell lines with aseptic technique
  • Experience in general molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, Western blotting…etc.) and cell-based assays (e.g., cell imaging, fluorescence microscopy…etc.)
  • Experience in cultivating animal cells in a suspension format (e.g., roller tube/bottle, shake flask, WAVE bioreactor, stirring or other bioreactors) is desirable
  • Experience in high throughput screening using automated liquid-handling platforms is a plus
  • Ability to carefully execute experiments to reliably generate high-quality data according to specified protocols
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, protocols, processes and equipment
  • Resourceful, well organized, highly dependable, efficient and detail oriented
  • Familiarity with G suite/MS Office and an electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) system is desirable
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, written and oral in English
  • Great team player with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

This position involves working primarily in a laboratory setting. As such this position requires the ability to stand or sit at the bench, the use of standard laboratory equipment as well as computers and office equipment. The position requires communication with other individuals through a variety of methods.
